Car Overheating On Highway Only. The reason may vary based on different cars and how the car is being driven. Why does my car only overheat on the highway?

As i hit the highway again i noticed that the needle began to creep higher than normal. Two weeks later the car was overheating and the. Ok, so i got this issue ever since i took a 100 mile road trip.

If It's Backing Up Or Not Taking Coolant, It's Likely The Thermostat, If It's Working Correctly, I'd Lean Toward The Water Pump.


The biggest cause of this is a faulty thermostat that is stuck closed. I noticed that my car started overheating so i pulled over and it cooled back down to reg temp. As i hit the highway again i noticed that the needle began to creep higher than normal.

As Soon As I Hop Onto The Highway The Car No Longer Stands A Chance.


Check your main coolant hoses going into and out of the radiator. Drain the oil, and look for coolant. Car overheats only when ac is on and i’m driving at highway speeds.
