Checked for fuel leaks but none found. Allowing [the engine] to run without fuel to lubricate and cool [the electric pump] can cause damage to an electric fuel pump. The only thing i can think is that it's on the frtiz and doesn't like the heat.

Going to have to take it in to check that! I have a 1998 johnson 150 model j150elecd that is hard to start and cuts out after running at full throttle for a min like it is starving for fuel or sucking air. Go drive around for awhile or take my brother tubing and it runs great.

Even Then, It Is Still Difficult To Start And It Takes Awhile To Burn Off The Excess Fuel And Clear Out And Run Good.

However, when i come off of plane, especially after running hard, the temp will climb to 180 sometimes even 200 and stay there for a few seconds. Get the boat out of the water asap and get it clean and running as fast as posible. After a good run, you shut down the engine for the day and settle into a nice anchorage.

Like Gas Is Loading Up In The Cylinder While It Is Sitting!

And passing gas into the cylinders! “it ran fine yesterday.” if i were the unlucky skipper, i’d repeat the process. Would start, but only after repeated attempts.

Put The Fuse Back In And It Should Do A Normal Cold Start.

Once started, runs like a champ. Pull up to the same sand bar we always park at and let it sit for a few. You have to remove the fuse for the fuel pump, then crank it floored until is fires and runs out of fuel.

A Cold Start (First Start In A Few Days Or More) Takes About 3.

Went back to the marina this morning, and same thing. I can tell you this, my boat typically runs at 155 degrees while idling and while cruising around. If the boat tank is allowed to become empty then no gasoline will be pumped to the vst.
